COMMISSIONS
A custom piece uniquely captures a personal subject matter, lasts a lifetime, and is a great way to eternalize something special.
Would you like to inquire about a commission?
Every year I take on a limited number of commissions.
If you would like to explore what working on a commission together would look like, read more about the commission process below and use the contact form to get in touch.
THE PROCESS
THE VISION
Commissioning an original piece of art might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and investment.
Ensuring the best possible outcome from a collaboration is a job I take most seriously.
Often someone has a very specific subject matter and vision in mind when ordering a commission, but sometimes it's more an idea waiting to be explored.
Both cases are welcome and will result in unique works of art tailored to your heart and home.
BEFORE WE START
The first step is to reach out via the contact form at the bottom of this page and share your vision.
I will be in touch within 48 hours to answer any questions you might have about the process.
Once we have decided on the image you have in mind, I will make a digital sketch of your painting to be sure we are on the same page.
If desired, you can also send me an image of the wall you have in mind for your commissioned piece, and I will make a mock-up with the digital sketch, helping you envision what the finished artwork would feel and look like in your space.
THE PROCESS
All my original artworks are oil paintings made with several layers of paint to create a quality work of art full of life on the canvas.
The size of your commission will decide the time it takes before the painting is ready to be delivered, and depending on my prior commitments, the timeframe will be agreed upon before we start a collaboration.
Note that oil paint, which needs to be completely dry before I add the finishing layer of varnish, is a slow-drying medium.
THE INVESTMENT
Once we have decided on the design of your commission piece, I will email a Commission Contract.
This commission contract will work as a safety for both parties, ensuring clear guidelines on payment.
Before I start any commission, I will always ask the collector to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit on the agreed price.
That will cover all expenses of materials and the time working on their commission.
The remaining 50% of the price is due when the painting is complete if the collector is happy with the result.
The price will depend on the size and complexity of the commission.
The investment includes;
A custom frame, shipping with standard mail, a certificate of authenticity, and a sketching session where I make digital sketches based on your wishes to be sure we are on the same page.
